Lowe’s

Search Bar Recommendation

Jul - Aug 2021

Feature Enhancement / e-Commerce Platform / Customer Experience

In this project at Lowe's Home Improvement, my role involved designing the user interface based on prior work and suggestions, and supporting in the user testing process.

About
We want to increase the engagement and interaction of customers on Lowes.com when they are searching up items. The team identified the opportunities to integrate the recent and trending search with previously viewed.
Objective

Before the customer begin typing in the search bar, we want to provide personalized recommendations based on trending searches, their recent searches and previously viewed products.

User Interview for Desktop
We asked 30 participants in what order should information be shown?
With a split in user preference, we evaluated other factors to determine the optimal placement. Specifically, participants indicated that the images of previously viewed items attracted their attention most effectively when positioned at the top. Therefore, placing these items at the bottom can strategically draw the eye downward, ensuring that users see all the displayed information.
User Interview for Mobile
We asked 30 participants in what order should information be shown?

Then we asked the participants how should Recent Searches and Trending Items be shown on mobile?
