Decor Product Visualizer

Jun - Aug 2021

Immersive Product Visualization / e-Commerce Platform / Customer Experience

In this project at Lowe's Home Improvement, I researched competitor product visualizers, designed the decor visualizer experience and interface, and conducted user testing to evaluate and refine the designs.

About
When shopping online, it is hard for customers to see how décors look like in their space. We want to provide a décor visualizer tool so as Lowes.com customers browse on the product list page and on the product visualizer page, they can view décor items in a room that is like their own home.
Use Case

Customers should be able to apply color and style variants to a décor item and view it in various room scenes with the following use cases:

Purchase Intent

“As a Lowes.com customer, I want to be able to see what the decor I’m interested in purchasing looks like in an actual room/ space before I add it to the cart.”

Visualize Intent

“As a Lowes.com customer, while I am using another visualizer (paint/flooring/blinds etc), I want to be able to adjust the decor in the space to match something more akin to my home.”

Mix Intent

“As a Lowes.com customer, when I view my options on how to change the décor, I want to be able to select to “View shoppable images only” so that I only see items that I can purchase.”

User Flow
Design & Evaluation
The user flow informed the initial design direction. Multiple concepts were then tested on UserTesting.com to gauge user preferences and validate intuitiveness.
Final Designs
The product visualizer can be helpful for shopping décor products online. However, as this feature was relatively unfamiliar to most shoppers, it needs to be easily accessible with clear instructions. The product visualizer should also assist users in evaluating the quality and fit of the product in their space.

This feature is now live on the company's website, showcasing the successful implementation of the design efforts.
